Manzurul Hasan Ashraf Uddin <p><em>The Covid-19 (coronavirus) crisis is severe, and will have a horrendous financial and economic effect on all over the world. Consequently, this pandemic has jeopardized the rising economy of Bangladesh. The country’s economy largely depends on Ready-made Garments, remittances, and export of agricultural products. In response to this unusual ‘Great Recession’, Bangladesh is exploring the use of technologies to fight back this recession amidst the ongoing social distancing, self-isolation and travel limitations. This study critically analyzes and explores the financial policies adapted by the Bangladesh government. The study identifies that the government is applying Keynesian approach and providing adequate incentives and subsidies in order to strengthen the economy. In addition, the study draws insight into how the government is spending a significant amount on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and popularizing ICT platforms to uphold financial activities. It also elaborates on the implications of a huge government budget in several sectors through ICT. However, the government slightly misuses the budget by allying with corruption and money laundering. Finally, the study successfully advocates that, although the Keynesian approach invites issues like debt, inflation, and unemployment but the government prefers the Keynesian approach (direct assistance or subsidies from the government) to protect Bangladesh economy.</em></p> <p><strong><em>&nbsp;</em></strong></p> 2021-06-05T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 Md. Manzurul Hasan, Ashraf Uddin IDENTIFICATION OF PRIVATISED PUBLIC UTILITIES AND RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES IN IBEJU-LEKKI AXIS OF LAGOS STATE 2021-07-21T17:21:56+00:00 Mujidat Iyabo Adedigba Olugbenga Theophilus Babatunde <p><em>This study identified the different public utilities that are Privatised and the types of residential properties in Ibeju-Lekki in Lagos State. The area of study was stratified into high, middle, and low densities in the study area. From the records at Ibeju-Lekki government administrative office, it was further revealed that there were 56, 60, and 40 residential areas respectively on the high, medium, and low densities. Systematic random sampling selection without replacement was employed to select one of every four identified residential areas in each density, gives 14, 15, and 9 residential areas from the high, medium, and low densities respectively.&nbsp; There were 3,411, 1745, and 549 residential buildings in the identified residential areas. Selection of the first building in each area was done randomly while a subsequent unit of the investigation was every 20<sup>th</sup>building which gave a sample size of 171, 87, and 27 residential buildings in the high, medium, and low densities respectively. One household head was selected in each building randomly. Data collected from household heads include information on the functional public utilities that are Privatised, types of buildings/ properties, the rental value of properties in the area from 2003-2015 among others. The result showed that there were six public utilities that are Privatised in the study area namely waste disposal, water supply, streetlight, road network, telecommunications, and postal service with variation in their functionality index across the densities. Finally, it was revealed that major types of residential properties identified in Ibeju-Lekki axis of Lagos State were tenement, self–contained, bungalow, the block of flats, duplex, detached and semi-detached. The study relies on secondary data obtained from records at Ibeju-Lekki Government administrative office further. From the records, it was revealed that there were fifty-five (55), fifty-nine (59), and thirty-nine (39) housing built-up areas respectively on the high, medium, and low densities. There were 3,411, 1745, and 549 housing built-up buildings in the identified housing built-up areas. Secondary data were analyzed using trend analysis. Studies have shown indiscriminate disposal of the household solid waste is rampant in the low-income residential areas and this has been a grave concern of the government at the grassroots. In spite of several institutional frameworks set up by the Local Authorities to attain proper management of the waste, the expectation and the reality are not in tandem and among the most cited reasons is that the management procedures and frameworks are not community-based. With the occurrence of social change in every society in the contemporary period, Nigerian traditional family structure and setting have undergone significant alterations as a consequence of the influx of the superfluous forces through globalisation. The sole objective of this review was to pinpoint the cultural aspects of the indigenous family system that technological, socio-cultural and economic factors, as components of globalisation, have altered in Nigerian society. In this systematic review, integration of a large body of both quantitative and qualitative findings from previous relevant studies was carried out to achieve the sole objective of this study.
